Brian waited until Ava was clear of the library before pressing the button. Nothing happened for a second then a ripple caused the atmosphere to slightly waver. Then the columns gave and as dust shot out and covered the street the library exploded. Brian tossed the detonator as it was now no good. Brian jumped from his perch. A zombie lunged mindlessly at him. Brian dodged and placed his hand on his rifle. He pulled and aimed. Brian dashed down the street paying no mind to the library which no longer stood. Brian knew that most of the zombies now were making their way towards the library which put a smile on Brian's face. Brian turned a corner and his smile diminished. A massive group stood lumbering before him. The zombies turned and started to make their way toward him.
Brian thought on his feet as he turned for a building in the distance. Rockafeller. Brian ran for the huge ditch in the sidewalk that once used to be a restaurant and when the winter was here a massive ice skating rink. Brian jumped onto the hood of a car and started to car hop to avoid the majority of the group as they waved their arms up at him. Brian ran up and down each car safetly until he reached the end. Brian jumped to the sidewalk and unexpectedly a zombie latched onto him. "Ah shit!" Brian fell backward which propelled him over the side of the protective barrier. Both inhuman and human plummeted to the pavement. Brian on the bottom. Brian pulled his pistol out just as he felt his spine shatter. Brian moaned as he splurted blood. He felt his own blood splatter his face making a crimson mask. Brian squinted as he tried to turn to his side as the Rockafeller zombies targeted him.
Brian stopped crawling to take two down with single shots to the head. Both zombies crumpled and fell. Brian continued crawling. 10 dead zombies and 15 minutes later Brian leaned against the black marble of Rockafellar Center. He lazily and painfully raised his pistol and tried to muster all the strength he had left to pull the trigger. "This is a call for blood, motherfucker." Brian's angst overtook him. Four more crumpled to the ground. More had gotten closer. Brian expended his ammunition clip. His hand clattered to the floor. He felt the pain shoot through him. They got closer. Brian started to look around the area. His face still covered in blood. He felt his bones had splintered. It was only his ribs, Brian knew. But it hurt like hell.

This had to be the longest hour Jeremy had ever endured. But it was good in the long run, he knew. Another thing Jeremy knew was that he could either take it or leave.. or die. Jeremy actually desired neither. He feasted on a piece of stale bread as he waited for Brian to show, as was the plan. Gunfire drew closer and that could only mean one thing. He had arrived. It wasn't until Brian had flipped himself over the protective barrier did Jeremy spring into action. Dropping the bread he snatched his rifle which had been leaning precariously against the wall next to him.
Starting off at a run Jeremy reached Brian's side in a few strides. "Right on time. You said 0200 and here you are." Jeremy said. Not really wanting to get into any pleasentries and instead cutting right to the military snippets. "We have 3 klicks to cover before we get to the penthouse. Dark is setting and you look like shit. I don't like those odds." Jeremy helped Brian to his feet and slung an arm over his shoulder to keep him steady. They continued on in silence for a while. "That explosion might as well have turned the dead. The whole is city is coming down like a Thai hooker. Its riding up to its nuts. Congrats you woke the whole damn city." Jeremy had a hint of sarcasm in his words.
"This is going to be a pain in the ass." Jeremy saw the darkness settling. He heard the cry of the zombies. "Not good." Renner's support did not speed up their movements very well. They reached the steps to street level. "I don't think we are going to make it back to the penthouse tonight. We should lay low in Rockafella. There's some stale bread in there. We can have a feast on water and bread. I'd rather do that then haul your ass 30 blocks." Renner's opposite arm shot out and up the stairs aiming his pistol and plugging a zombie through the chest with a single shot.
